I love this book! Carl Hiaason, who usually writes for adults, has written a sophisticated and hilarious book for young readers filled with sparkly poisonous snakes, dopey villains, unlikely friendships, and an inspiring message (without being cloying). Contemporary realistic fiction perfect for 6th and 7th graders especially, though I was literally laughing out loud in public over the characters' droll one-line responses. Just so good.
[Content: One to two well-placed instances of profanity, and some pretty extreme but calmly-handled bullying. Not for early middle grade but appropriate for others.]
